Understanding your Subscriptions

Modified on Thu, 26 Dec, 2024 at 6:15 PM

A subscription is a recurring agreement between a customer and you as the merchant where the customer authorizes regular payments in exchange for ongoing access to products or services. It typically involves a predefined plan that outlines the payment frequency, amount, and duration, allowing for seamless and consistent transactions over a specified period.

To access your subscriptions, simply expand the "Recurring Payments" menu in the side navigation and click on "Subscriptions."

Subscription Status

Depending on the subscription's status, it will display as follows:

  • Running: The subscription is active, with upcoming payments pending completion.
  • Completed: The subscription term has ended successfully. All payments have been received, and there are no outstanding balances.
  • Incomplete: The subscription term has ended, but one or more payments failed. As a result, some funds were not collected due to various reasons.
  • Paused: The subscription is temporarily on hold, suspending services or benefits but allowing for potential reactivation. During this period, no payments will be processed. Once reactivated, the subscription will resume its schedule, including any pending payments.
  • Inactive: The subscription is no longer active due to a manual cancellation made directly on the platform.

Running Subscriptions with Failed Payments

During the life of a subscription, one or more payments may fail due to various reasons related to the payment method, such as an expired card, insufficient funds, or other issues. It's important to keep track of your subscriptions to ensure all payments are successfully collected and to address any issues that may arise.

Strictly makes it easy to locate subscriptions with failed payments. If this happens, you'll notice an alert icon to the right of the subscription, indicating an issue. You can click on it to open the subscription and take the necessary action.

If you have subscriptions with failed payments:

  1. Click the ellipsis menu on the right of the subscription row and select the "View" option.
  2. Scroll down in the panel to the "Payments" section.
  3. Locate the failed payment and take the necessary action, such as retrying the payment or adding a payment manually.
