Create a Subscription

Modified on Wed, 15 Jan at 9:18 PM

A subscription is a recurring agreement between a customer and a merchant where the customer authorizes regular payments in exchange for ongoing access to products or services. It typically involves a predefined plan that outlines the payment frequency, amount, and duration, allowing for seamless and consistent transactions over a specified period.

In Strictly, you can easily create subscriptions by selecting an existing plan or entering the details manually.

  1. In the side navigation, expand the Recurring Payments tab and select Subscriptions.

  2. Click the New Subscription button located on the top right of the screen.

  3. You have the option to either select an existing plan or create a custom schedule. If the option to use an existing plan is selected, an input to select the plan will be displayed. Click it and select the appropriate plan. If the option to create a custom schedule is selected, complete the schedule and termination details.

  4. Enter the customer and payment details. Click the Select Customer button and select the customer from the list. Note that only existing customers with a valid payment method are selectable. The customer information will display automatically, including all the stored payment methods to select from.

  5. Complete the Renewal and Communications section. If the plan you selected has an end date, you will be asked to define if you want to auto-renew the subscription and notify the customer. You also have the option here to activate or deactivate the sending of payment receipts to the customer.

  6. Start Date. Choose the date when the subscription will begin. This date must align with the subscription's schedule. For example, if the subscription is scheduled to run on the 15th of each month, select a start date before the 15th to ensure the first payment is processed for the current month. If you select the 15th or a later date, the first payment will apply to the following month instead.

  7. If needed, addition a one-time payment. This amount is excluded from the subscription. Enter the amount in the input.

  8. If necessary, you can add additional notes to the subscription for easier identification. If not, you can leave it blank.

  9. If any custom fields are configured, complete the information.

  10. Review the subscription before creating it. After completing all the information, you will find a summary of your subscription charges at the bottom of the page. Here, you also have the option to add taxes if necessary.

  11. If a credit card is being used and a surcharge is applied, you will be asked to agree to the terms and conditions before creating the subscription. Acknowledge the statement by clicking the checkbox.

  12. When finished, click the Create Subscription button.
